News! Go Go Gadget… Me

A self-proclaimed “geek,” I have made no reservations about his reverence for technology. At first glance, this is demonstrated by the gadgets he carries and the wearables that adorn his wardrobe. From a professional standpoint, Peak Contact couldn’t be a more blatant display. Specializing in cutting-edge solutions for insurance, travel, education, and health care industries Peak Contact is the backbone of Ingle International, and its sister service offerings found in Novus Health, Intrepid 24/7 and sisu production. And who could forget the app? Travel Navigator™ is Ingle International’s white-labelled app and duty of care service offering.

I was invited to sit on the panel of the Cyborg Code of Ethics summit on June 26, 2016. Hosted by Virtual and Augmented Reality Toronto (VRTO), Robin was invited by friend and ultimate tech guru Steve Mann.

VRTO is “a productivity-oriented think tank and discovery group for innovators, developers, inventors, storytellers, content producers, entrepreneurs, hackers, modders, programmers, pioneers, ontologists and adventurers.” Their goal is to, “empower people to share their world, culture, knowledge and dreams with the assistance of emergent immersive technologies.”

0B4A7087Keynote speakers on the panel included Mann and film Director Brett Leonard. Audience attendees engaged in rigorous debate surrounding the ethics of virtual and augmented reality and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Specifically in respect to privacy laws, surveillance, and best practises. I hope I was able to lighten the mood as I reminisced about creating spy security surveillance in the 80s.

sisu production, along with a handful of media big wigs, spotlighted the summit.

As the conversation wound down, participants and attendees indulged in the opportunity to get their VR on. Interested in VRTO? Register for their next event here.
